St. Louis de Montfort, a 17th century French priest, had a great love for Mary, and how she leads us to Jesus . He has taught many throughout the years that we can grow closer to Jesus through trusting and loving His mother. St. Louis Marie de Montefort wrote the 33 day preparation and Consecration to Jesus through Mary. As I was making my Consecration to Jesus through Mary, I learned about the 10 Virtues of Mary. St. Louis Marie de Montfort begins the 2nd week of the consecration, with growing in “Knowledge of the Blessed Mother. Acts of love, pious affection for the Blessed Virgin, imitation of her virtues, especially her profound humility, her lively faith, her blind obedience, her continual mental prayer, her mortification in all things, her surpassing purity, her ardent charity, her heroic patience, her angelic sweetness, and her divine wisdom : "there being," as St. Louis De Montfort says, "the ten principal virtues of the Blessed Virgin." I was drawn to memorize these virtues and teach them to my daughter. On our ride to school, we would quiz each other on the virtues. I would say the descriptive word and she would follow with the virtue. We talked about each virtue and what it means and how the Blessed Mother exemplified the virtue. We would choose a virtue to ask Mary to help us to practice that day, then share a moment in that day where we chose to live the virtue or maybe where we could have but did not. Let us begin with simply learning Mary’s 10 Virtues. When we let her know that we want to get to know her better, she will happily reveal her heart! Each Monday for the next 10 Monday’s, we will take a closer look at each virtue.
